Good luck Chris - only 7 days to go to your Triathlon ...!
Our very own Chris Catford is joining Chris Barson (the owner of Positive about Autism) to take part in the Upton Triathlon on Saturday 10 July - a British Triathlon Federation registered event.
The event includes a 1.5km swim in the River Severn, a 40km cycle ride and 10km run.
Chris has been training up to the distances and clocked up many, many miles of pedalling, swimming and running in the hope of raising sponsorship for the work of the National Autistic Society.
We wish good luck to all those taking part - members of the CCC Team will be along on 10th July to give Chris a CCC cheer !

Complete Meetings Package vs. Modular Pricing
We recognise a current trend where companies are spreading their costs across internal cost centres. Whatever your needs e.g. separating the Day Delegate Rate from Dinner Bed & Breakfast, Cotswold Conference Centre has a flexible approach so please do discuss your specific billing requirements with us.

Cotswold Conference Centre – a growing concern !
The Directors have given the go-ahead for a £3.5M investment programme over the next 2 years to include 36 new bedrooms and the refurbishment of Picton House and Dales Croft. Work starts immediately.
Nick Akerman commented: ‘This is very exciting and clearly demonstrates the confidence the Philip-Sorensen family have in this business. The extra capacity will help us meet demand for corporate training and conferences during the week and allow us to expand the Farncombe Estate programme into some new areas at the weekends.’

Travel to CCC by train for your next event
The Environment Agency have recently discouraged staff from taking most domestic flights to places inside the UK that can easily be reached by train. Paul Leinster, chief executive of the Environment Agency, said: "Our restriction on domestic air travel builds on previous and continuing action on business mileage, energy use, waste to landfill and renewable energy generation”.
To support greener business travel, CCC operates a free collection and return service whenever possible for delegates arriving for a residential event by train at either of our two local train stations. Email rachaelb@cotswoldconferencecentre.com for more details of greener business and training events at Cotswold Conference Centre.

Chef Scott discovers the Milky Way
Our Catering Team pride themselves in sourcing local Cotswold produce for the daily menus to support local farms and small businesses and to reduce ‘food miles’.
Dairy milk, butter, cream and yoghurts are produced on Mr Ingles “Hayway Farm” which is only about 2 miles away – his cows graze in the fields just below the centre! Head Chef Scott Court and Deputy Catering Manger Richard Drakeley were lucky enough to have a guided tour and learn more about the milking process and about how yoghurts are made. Scott explained, “Our delegates have enjoyed milk and dairy products from the farm for many years and it was extremely reassuring and interesting to see the milk production in action”.
Hayway Farm also sources other local products for us including sausages, meat, poultry, local asparagus and seasonal vegetables from the Vale of Evesham

Keystone Training at CCC
Keystone Training take pride in providing the right learning environment to enable business people and organisations to grow and develop. The business was started by Angela Loggie 6 years ago and has grown steadily to become a market leader in providing innovative leadership and development programmes for many blue chip companies.
So far in 2010, Keystone Training have brought 3 different clients to Cotswold Conference Centre on the Farncombe Estate.
We interviewed Senior Training Consultant, Richard Sivers, to explore his passion for the North Cotswold Estate just outside Broadway, Worcestershire.
“There is a lot of ground work and preparation to do with our bespoke programmes, so moving venue is not something we take lightly nor want to do regularly. Following a web search in mid-2009 I was looking initially for 5 things.
We needed a central location. I knew I didn’t want a hotel environment with a spa and other hotel-like distractions. A dedicated business learning environment was important with plenty of space, the setting had to be right too. CCC came to my attention on the search engines and looked good, actually very good - so I made contact. Right from the first moment I was particularly impressed with the professionalism of Rachael Buttery. Nothing was too much trouble. The pictures are good but when you get there you can’t help but stop and admire the view – it is a stunning location.”
Richard continued…, “The 6th thing I hadn’t put on my list (but I guess everyone expects) is ‘customer service’. I don’t know how they do it but CCC actually deliver exceptional customer service – consistently. The people are wonderful and nothing is too much trouble. The place is quite unique. When I ask for something, it happens! Everyone you come into contact with – from Reception to Housekeeping – they are all keen to help make the events as successful as possible. Delegates have all loved the venue, particularly the food! More importantly, we are able to deliver successful development programmes, and long may this partnership continue. ”

Farncombe Honey
As this is the time of year for bees we have certainly had our fair share. There are three swarms at Farncombe House at present that our local beekeeper is attempting to catch. This has given us the idea of keeping hives on the Estate so keep an eye out for Farncombe Honey in the future!
